beejeebers, wonky house round 1!

This year I am trying something new - a quilting bee! I talked about it a little bit here but now that the year has started we have our first go for January - blocks inspired by a wonky house quilt. It is totally cute and so far three or four of us have blocks done and posted! You can check out the action in our little bee on our flicker site.

I decided to try a house. It looks like a mushroom a bit, no?

My house was a bit small so I added a little tree. I plan to do a little embroidery on the block and maybe add some small buttons. I have to see what I have.  It totally needs a big puffy cloud in the sky! I'm thinking about making a second block to send along too for fun. The bee is a 1-1 swap but surprises are always nice!

ETA: The finished block with cloud!

You can also see my nasty, nasty ironing board cover. No worries, that is spray starch making it brown! I need to give that cover a good old bath. Maybe I'll toss it in a tub to soak while I grade papers. No ironing board = get my grading done :) (never mind I have 3 other small ironing surfaces I can use). I am quite sentimental with my ironing board. I might tell that story another time.
